What is Chiropractic care

Chiropractic care is a safe, gentle and effective form of health care that helps restore your body’s natural healing ability by removing interference from the central nervous system.  The central nervous system is made up of the brain, the spinal cord and nerves. Together, they control and co-ordinate the function of every cell, tissue and organ in your body.

We don’t just treat pain, although we do a lot of pain management as many patients all over the world have benefited from it greatly. We have systems in place for those people who wish to take more of a pro-active approach to optimise their health before injury occurs. Some other possible benefits of maintenance care are: increased mobility, energy, strength, improved posture, decreased stiffness and optimal physical performance. We work to make sure you will understand what the underlying cause of your complaint is and the reasons for the recommended course of care prescribed.

A healthy spine enables a child to grow straight and strong, helps prevent injuries and allows their nervous system to do its job properly. Chiropractic care can start as early as in-utero! Chiropractic care helps pregnant women ensuring that there pelvis is sitting correctly. An altered centre of gravity as well as lax ligaments can predispose the pregnant woman to injury. Over 50% of women experience low back and pain in the pelvis. Mums can therefore benefit from the safe and gentle care we do. The most natural of births can cause stress and strain to babies spine and can be compounded when an infant is developing proper head support, learning to sit up, walk, falling over or by children’s play from a bigger sibling!

Chiropractic is for people of all ages and stages of life from pregnant women to athletes, babies to seniors.

For more information on how we can help, please view this page. We have worked on many athletes to help improve performance and reduce injury. Many seniors have been helped with relief from pain and loss of movement and many office workers from postural strain and overloading of joints.

On your first visit, we need to understand your medical and health history. A thorough consultation and examination will be performed which will include a series of Chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological examinations which may then require the obtaining of spinal (bulk billed) x-rays. X-rays can be helpful in determining the full extent of your condition by ruling out any potentially serious health issues and will assist the doctor in formulating your individualised care plan. Unfortunately, many health problems can mimic spinal disorders, and as such, your history will be discussed in detail.

If it is discovered that you require further investigation or referral, we will organise a referral to the appropriate health care provider.
